‘It’s like he’s not from this town’: A Trump surrogate describes ‘racist’ white woman
In August, President Donald Trump appeared on Fox News and defended his controversial comments about a white woman.
“She is very beautiful, very intelligent,” Trump said of the woman in the clip, which was filmed during a press conference.
“I think she’s doing very well, and I think she should stay in the United States.”
The footage was released by Trump’s campaign to defend Trump’s comments about Alicia Machado, who is suing him for sexual assault.
Trump’s campaign has since said he made a mistake and that the footage is a mischaracterization of his comments.
In the interview with Fox News, Trump also said Machado is “a beautiful woman,” adding that she “doesn’t belong here.”
“She doesn’t belong in this country,” Trump told host Bill O’Reilly.
“She should be deported.
She shouldn’t be in this world.”
In an interview with The Washington Post published Tuesday, Machado’s attorney, Gloria Allred, said Trump’s remarks are “racist and misogynistic,” and that they “hurt the entire country.”
The president has repeatedly denied Machado belongs in the country and called the allegations against her “fake news.”
“I don’t know her personally,” Trump continued, “but I do know her in some other way, I think, from some other countries.”
“That’s not who she is,” Trump added.
