Glowforge ‘will change the way you build and repair computers’
GlowForge is a new material for building computers that’s used by Apple and other companies.
It’s made from copper, aluminium and other metals.
It can be used to make components for computers and other electronics.
The idea behind the material is that it will change the design of computers, said Professor Alan Scott, a professor at the School of Engineering and Technology.
He said the material would allow users to make a computer in a very lightweight, yet robust way.
“What you have to do is create a device which can hold the entire power supply in the case, and then you can make that device extremely lightweight, and yet it’s still incredibly robust, and that’s what you want,” he said.
“The idea is that you can get a really thin circuit board with the whole power supply, and if you can put that whole circuit board on a single piece of plastic, you’ve got a really strong system.”
Professor Scott said the materials used in the materials could also be used in other applications.
For example, they could be used as structural supports for the computer casing, or for an electrical box.
Glow Forge could also help to reduce the amount of materials that need to be sourced and made in order to build a computer, Professor Scott explained.
The materials could be manufactured from waste products like wood, paper and glass, and used in a variety of applications, including power supplies and electronic components.
The project has been funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), the Australian Government and the Department of Energy and Water.
