China to install more than a million solar panels in residential buildings this year
China is expected to install a million rooftop solar panels on residential buildings in the country’s cities this year, state media reported Monday.
The Xinhua news agency cited state media as saying that in February the state-owned Xinjiang National Solar Power Co. had installed more than 20,000 solar panels, with the majority being concentrated in the provinces of Lhasa, Kashgar and Gansu.
It said the panels were being installed by a joint venture between a company that is owned by a Chinese conglomerate and a consortium of state-run companies.
Xinhua said the first phase of the project was expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2019, with a second phase expected to be launched in 2020.
